On 24 November 2025, Tan Cang – Cai Mep International Terminal (TCIT) recorded its 2,000,000th TEU of the year, marking the third year in which the terminal has exceeded the two-million-TEU benchmark. TCIT reached this milestone 22 days earlier than in 2020 and one month earlier than in 2021, despite ongoing volatility in the global economy and maritime transport sector. This achievement highlights the terminal’s adaptability, operational efficiency, and resilience amid ongoing supply-chain restructuring and rising expectations for sustainable, green port operations. It also reflects Vietnam’s import-export performance.
TCIT currently operates 12 international routes linking Vietnam with major ports in Asia, Europe, and the Americas. The terminal can accommodate vessels of up to 173,724 DWT while also handling Cambodian transshipment cargo via feeder services[1] and domestic cargo through an extensive barge and trucking network. It is also deepening cooperation with inland container depots (ICDs) and destination ports to reduce congestion, accelerate clearance, and improve supply-chain flexibility. With its current growth trajectory, TCIT expects to reach 2.2 million TEU in 2025, reinforcing its position as Vietnam’s busiest deep-sea container terminal and the country’s second-largest port by throughput, after Tan Cang-Cat Lai..
Looking ahead to 2026, as Ho Chi Minh City and neighbouring provinces advance megacity development plans with expanded transport, logistics, and port infrastructure, TCIT aims to further consolidate its role as Vietnam’s leading deep-sea container terminal Key priorities include deepening integration across the port-ICD-industrial park network, expanding value-added logistics services, accelerating digital transformation initiatives and green innovations to support Vietnam’s evolving logistics and trade ecosystem.
