The Ministry of Agriculture and Environment of Vietnam, in coordination with the Da Nang City People’s Committee, recently held the inauguration ceremony for Phase 2 of the Tho Quang Fishing Port upgrade and expansion project, with a total investment of approximately 9.5 million USD.
According to Mr. Tran Nam Hung, Vice Chairman of the Da Nang City People’s Committee, this is a nationally prioritized project in the fisheries sector, contributing to strengthening the infrastructure of the largest fishing port in central Vietnam. Tho Quang Fishing Port serves as a critical shelter for many fishing vessels during storm season and plays an essential role in traceability for compliance with regulations on combating Illegal, Unreported, and Unregulated (IUU) fishing, thereby supporting Vietnam’s efforts to lift the European Commission’s “yellow card”.
The completion of the project will enhance fisheries logistics capacity, promote sustainable marine economic development, improve environmental protection, and reinforce Da Nang City’s position as the region’s fisheries logistics hub. The Ministry will continue working with the city to advance an integrated fisheries management system, promote digital transformation, and develop a traceability data center.
