On 14 November 2025, the Can Tho City Institute for Socio-Economic Development Studies organized the City’s 2025 Annual Economic Forum. Speaking at the event, Mr. Nguyen Van Khoi, Vice Chairman of the Can Tho City People’s Committee, emphasized the city’s strategic position at the heart of the Mekong Delta, serving as a regional hub for commerce, logistics, agro-processing,and maritime economy. Its multimodal transport network, includingwaterways, roads, and air routes, enables strong logistics connectivity with Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC), Mekong Delta provinces, and international economic corridors, helping reduce transport costs and enhance supply-chain efficiency.
However, logistics infrastructure remains fragmented, particularly in waterway links, port infrastructure, warehousing capacity, and digital systems. Agricultural logistics services also face gaps in collection, preservation, transportation, and customs clearance. Most logistics firms are small and medium-sized, limiting their capacity to provide integrated, end-to-end services, while regulatory frameworks require further alignment with emerging development needs.
Can Tho City aims to become an international multimodal goods transshipment hub by 2030. The city plans to accelerate expressway connections, develop a regional logistics center tied to seaports and highways, expand Can Tho City International Airport, and promote high-tech deep-processing industries to raise the value of regional agricultural and fisheries products.
