On 5 December 2025, Kim Long Motor Hue JSC and Yuchai Group, one of the world’s leading engine manufacturers, held the inauguration ceremony of the Yuchai Engine Manufacturing Plant and unveiled its first two engines. This facility is the first in Vietnam capable of manufacturing engine lines that meet international standards, serving both the automotive industry and other key sectors.
The event marks an important milestone in strengthening core technological capabilities and supports the broader goal of advancing internationally competitive “Made in Vietnam” automobiles. The plant’s products will serve domestic demand and are also expected to be exported to ASEAN, South Korea, and the Middle East. Once fully operational, the Kim Long Motor Hue Automotive Industrial Park is also poised to become a major automotive manufacturing hub in Southeast Asia.
The plant covers 6.5 hectares with an initial investment of 260 million USD. Equipped with advanced production lines featuring up to 90% automation, it can produce a wide range of engines, namely automotive engines, marine engines, agricultural machinery engines, and generators. In the first phase, 2.5 hectares have been completed, focusing on diesel internal combustion engines with an annual capacity of over 40,000 units. In the second phase, the plant will expand automated machining lines for core components. A forging and stamping plant will also be commissioned, enhancing production capacity and raising the localization rate to 80%.
According to the Vice Chairman of the Hue City People’s Committee, the project plays a key role in implementing Vietnam’s Automotive Industry Development Strategy under Decision No. 1168/QD-TTg, catalysing investment in supporting industries and facilitating economic restructuring.
