On October 8, 2025, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Environment Phung Duc Tien, in collaboration with the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee, held a meeting on the establishment of a High-tech Agricultural Zone in Cu Chi Commune. The meeting aimed to expedite the approvals and provide a legal foundation for developing a high-tech agriculture in the city.
Deputy Minister Tien emphasized that, by leveraging Ho Chi Minh City’s strong advantages in science, human resources, infrastructure, and consumer markets, and through strong public–private partnerships, the Cu Chi zone is expected to become a core hub for technology transfer and a driving force for agricultural modernization in the Southern Key Economic Region. This initiative represents a strategic step in implementing the Central Committee’s resolutions on sustainable agricultural development and digital transformation.
Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee Bui Minh Thanh affirmed that the city is actively coordinating with the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment to finalize project documentation by the end of 2025, including detailed plans for land, infrastructure, and legal procedures.
Spanning over 23 hectares, the Cu Chi High-tech Agricultural Zone is envisioned as a center for research, technology transfer, and high-quality human resource training. The project is expected to increase agricultural value, promote green and smart farming, and contribute to modern, sustainable urban agriculture.
