On 11 November 2025, the Da Nang City People’s Council approved a municipal government’s proposal to invest in computational infrastructure for advanced Research and Development (R&D) in chip design and Artificial Intelligence (AI). The city plans to spend 8 million USD from its own budget between 2025 and 2028 to establish a facility on the second floor of the ICT Building in Software Park No. 2, Hai Chau Ward.
The core of the investment is a High-Performance Computing (HPC) system intended to support: semiconductor design simulations, AI model development, large-scale data processing, and R&D and training initiatives in universities, research institutes, and technology companies within Da Nang City.
By building this HPC capacity, Da Nang City aims to accelerate the growth of its digital economy and high-tech industries, while aligning with its roadmap for developing both the semiconductor and AI sectors.
Once operational, the HPC system is expected to attract major and influential technology companies, contributing to the establishment of the “Silicon Bay Da Nang” as a regional high-tech hub. Key beneficiaries include governmental agencies, universities, research institutions, AI and semiconductor startups, and participants in the Da Nang City’s semiconductor-AI training alliance.
