During a working session with the Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC) Party Committee on 6 November 2025, leaders of CMC Corporation presented the proposed CMC Science, Technology and Innovation Urban Area (CCS HCM) project.
The project, covering 100-200 hectares with an estimated investment of 400-800 million USD, aims to establish an integrated information technology and innovation hub comprising Research and Development (R&D) zones, data centers, digital technology development areas (AI, Big Data, Blockchain), training facilities, offices, residential zones, and supporting services. CMC is currently seeking an appropriate investment site in Can Gio Commune to complete legal procedures, with a goal to commence construction and put the project into operation within 36 months of approval.
The Corporation also introduced its CMC Tan Thuan Data Center, one of the most advanced data centers in Vietnam, and reaffirmed its commitment to supporting HCMC in implementing Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW on breakthroughs in science, technology, innovation, and national digital transformation, as well as Resolution No. 68-NQ/TW on private sector development, thereby advancing the city’s vision to become a global AI service hub.
In addition, CMC proposed that the city allocate 10-20 hectares of land for the establishment of the CMC University – HCMC Campus, to train high-quality human resources according to international standards, particularly in technology and Artificial Intelligence (AI). In the interim, CMC requested approval to initiate training and research activities in 2026 at its existing Tan Thuan facility, following the “AI University – Innovation University” model, which links education with practical application and ensures high graduate employability.
