On 3 October 2025, the First Congress of the Vinh Long Provincial Party Committee was convened. Mr. Ngo Chi Cuong, member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, and Head of the 15th National Assembly Delegation of Vinh Long Province (2020-2025 term), outlined the province’s development goal of becoming a rapidly and sustainably growing locality. The vision positions Vinh Long as a maritime economic hub and a center for renewable energy production, with a modern and synchronized infrastructure system seamlessly connected to other localities and key linkages within the Mekong Delta region.
According to the Political Report presented at the Congress, during the period from 2020 to 2025, Vinh Long Province’s economy has maintained stable growth, with notable progress in transportation infrastructure, renewable energy, trade, services, and tourism. Furthermore, high-tech agriculture and the new rural development program have yielded positive outcomes, contributing to the improvement of living standards for the citizens.
For the 2025-2030 term, the Party Committee of Vinh Long Province set the objective of mobilizing and effectively utilizing all resources to promote rapid and sustainable socio-economic development. The province aims to fully harness its advantages in maritime economy, ecological agriculture, renewable energy, logistics services, marine and cultural–ecological tourism, in line with the broader development priorities of the Mekong Delta region.
To achieve these goals, the province has also outlined 31 major targets, 6 key tasks, and 3 strategic breakthroughs. Among them, Vinh Long aims to maintain an average annual GRDP growth rate of 10%, raise per capita GRDP to over 169 million VND (approx. 6,600 USD) by 2030, and ensure local budget revenues grow by 7% per year.
