Marvell Technology Expands R&D Footprint with Three New Offices in Vietnam

On 30 September 2025, Marvell Technology, U.S.-based semiconductor company, officially inaugurated three new research and development (R&D) offices in Vietnam, with 2 new offices in Ho Chi Minh City and 1 in Da Nang City. During the launch, Mr. Sandeep Bharathi, President of Marvell’s Data Center Group, underscored Marvell’s long-term commitment to chip research, testing, and developing Vietnamese engineers capable of advancing high-performance semiconductor solutions for the next-generation of AI-driven data infrastructure.

Over the years, Marvell has introduced several initiatives to nurture domestic talent in Vietnam, including 30 annual scholarships, 50 internships per year, and collaboration with the National Innovation Center (NIC) and leading universities to prepare the next generation of semiconductor engineers.

As a result, Vietnam has emerged as Marvell’s third-largest global R&D hub, after the United States and India, employing more than 500 engineers. This expansion not only strengthens Marvell’s presence in Asia but also underscores Vietnam’s growing role as a regional leader in semiconductors and AI technology.

Mr. Nguyen Van Duoc, Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee, praised Marvell’s “Nation-School-Business” model during the same launch, noting that the approach will help position the city as a leading hub for semiconductors and artificial intelligence (AI). Local authorities also pledged to creating favourable conditions through mechanisms, policies, infrastructure, and human resources for Marvell to continue expanding R&D, technology transfer, and workforce training in Vietnam.

This move aligns with Resolution 57-NQ/TW, which identifies semiconductors as a strategic pillar for Vietnam’s economic and technological advancement. In support of this, Ho Chi Minh City has launched a program to train 9,000 semiconductor engineers during 2026-2030, contributing to the country’s goal of having 50,000 high-quality engineers by 2030.
