Ho Chi Minh City’s OCOP Product Development for 2025-2030

During 28-30 November 2025, the Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC) Department of Agriculture and Environment organized the “OCOP Product Trade Connection 2025 Event” at the Vung Tau Revolutionary Heritage House. The event aimed to promote and strengthen commercial linkages for OCOP products and regional specialties, enhancing domestic and international market access. It also sought to support OCOP stakeholders in product development, digital transformation, and sustainable market growth, contributing to rural economic development and the modernization of rural communities.

The event featured over 100 booths showcasing hundreds of OCOP products rated three stars or higher, along with agricultural goods from various localities. It also included specialized exhibition areas, culinary demonstrations, business networking activities, and a workshop devoted to advancing OCOP value chains. During the workshop, the HCMC Department of Agriculture and Environment and the Vietnam Farmers’ Club signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to promote the city’s rural development policies and programs. The partnership also aims to leverage enterprise resources to improve competitiveness and foster sustainable development of agricultural products. Numerous cooperation agreements were also signed between enterprises and major distribution systems, creating opportunities for OCOP products to enter supermarkets, convenience store chains, and modern retail channels.

In the near future, HCMC will prioritize enhancing the quality and sustainability of OCOP products, targeting more than 2,000 products rated three stars or higher during 20252030, and aiming for 510 products to achieve the five-star standard by 2030, with key product groups including processed foods, beverages, and handicrafts. The city will promote technology adoption, environmentally friendly materials, and producer support for product upgrading, while standardizing production processes and improving overall product quality. In 2026, HCMC also plans to promote OCOP products in international markets.
